Abstract

Poverty is a problem that is closely related to socio-economic. So the solution to this problem certainly uses a social perspective. It is quite suitable with the interpretation of Al Azhar written by Buya Hamka who is known as a humanist. The interpretation of Al Azhar is a commentary that explains life under the guidance of Al Quran. as one of the socio-economic problems, poverty certainly has different characteristics from time to time. Therefore, based on this research to the interpretation of Al Azhar is a very appropriate choice because it is included to a contemporary interpretation that has more accurate relevance than the previously written interpretations. This research will lead to how the strategy of poverty alleviation in Al Quran according to the interpretation of Al Azhar by Buya Hamka.This research heads for knowing and describing the strategy of poverty alleviation in Al Quran based on the interpretation of Al Azhar by Buya Hamka. This research is a qualitative research model with the theme of discussion of the concept of poverty alleviation with approach of Maudhu'i (thematic) tafsir method. The primary data of this research is Al-Azhar's first printed book of 2015 by Buya Hamka's Gema Insani. Secondary data sources in this research are books, scientific journals, articles, internet sites and researchs relating to the strategy of poverty alleviation. In this research, the author analyze the data using maudu'i method (thematic method).The conclusions that can be taken in this research are Based on the observation of poor verses in chronological order, the gradual poverty alleviation is: the awareness of the people in overcoming poverty, conducting the assistance to the poor, giving direct compensation to the poor, enforcing the right protecting the poor, protecting the economic activities of the poor, doing good in general and comprehensive, fidyah fasting, infaq, ghanimah, family inheritance guarantee, kaffarah, zakat.

Abstract

Tolerance is a value which is always taught by all religions and is also one of the important attitudes for Indonesian due to the diversity in culture and religion in the community life. This research will focus on the concept of tolerance according to two perspectives of prominent Indonesian commentary entitled 'Comparative Study of Interpretation of Tolerance Verses According to Hamka in Tafsir Al-Azhar and Quraysh Shihab in Tafsir Al-Misbah'. This research departs from the reality of the Indonesian people who have a diversity of beliefs, and the constitutional legitimacy of the six legitimate religions and recognized by Indonesia. An attitude of tolerance is needed so that the pluralistic life among religious people does not generate conflicts that will harm the nation. Therefore, the researchers examined two figures of the Quranic commentators, namely Hamka and Quraish Shihab to compare the concept of tolerance from those two Indonesian muslim scholars. The type of this research is library research with a sociological approach which is conducted by looking at the social context of the two figures. The primary data are taken from the commentaries of Hamka namely Al-Azhar and Quraish Shihab namely al-Misbah. To get a conclusion from the research, the researcher took three verses which are relevant to the concept of tolerance, namely verse 256 of Surah Al-Baqarah (Religious Freedom), verse 69 of Surah Al-Maidah (Religious Equality), and verse 8 of Surah Al-Mumtahanah (Advice to be fair). From those three verses, it can be concluded that Hamka and Quraish Shihab have differences and similarities. In the first verse, Hamka tends to be exclusive to the quality aspect, while Quraish Shihab is pluralist. In the second verse, Hamka is inclusive and Quraysh Shihab is pluralist although it is different from the perspective of other pluralists. And in the third verse, Hamka and Quraish Shihab have an inclusive attitude.
