  I've had the Tesco version, which I believe is the same radio just rebadged. It took 2 AAA batteries which lasted a good few hours, good sound and quite sensitive for a pocket DAB, I'd give it a go!

  I have a tesco version, no where near as flash as the Asda one looks, not too bad as a radio got it to listen to the cricket on 5 extra, but it does eat batteries. If I left it on overnight it was usually dead so I started using chargeables and keeping a spare set with me

  Not this actual unit, but I have a pocket/personal DAB radio which I use in the car.
  They are pretty neat, though the reception, as they use the headphone lead / aux lead as an antenna, can be limited.
  I dare say the way I use it, tucked into the sunglasses holder in the roof of my car, with the Line In cable (antenna) running across the roof, down the door pillar and into the glove box where the socket is located, is going to produce the best reception. This at times, can still be quite bad. So I imagine on a shorter headphone lead, with the receiver tucked in a pocket, the reception could be very bad, unless your near a transmitter.
  The unit I bought was MUCH cheaper, about £15.00 I think, but at £25.00, its still a good buy & much cheaper than buying a Pure Highway receiver, but without the option of an external antenna.

  Ohhh Errr Misses!
  Seriously, i had a Morphy Richards back in 2006, ran off 2 AA and got through 4 poundland batteries a day on the coach to London and back. Back then it was great at picking up Mux all the way down to Kent.
  Bought i Phillips for the bigger MP3 player (1gig against 128mb). Runs on 2AAA batteries, they last about 4 hours.
  Both are no longer sold, but probably available via ebay. Hope it helps

  Asda's pocket radio is currently on sale for £22.50. Model E80210. No idea if it does DAB+ or anything else. It only says 'Digitalradio' on the front. The old model said 'DAB Radio' instead.
  The supplied headphones are cheap and nasty, and the front scratches very easily. Even fingernails will do it. Switching presets is fiddly, especially if you're trying to do it without taking it out of your pocket, and it occasionally locks up. But it's £22.50 so stop moaning!
  Sound through a good pair of headphones is nothing more than OK. A bit flat, really. Loud enough, though no one's ever going to go deaf with this. I miss the bass boost and extra wide stereo effect of my old phone, but that didn't have DAB.
  The biggest annoyance is the rescan button is on the face of it, so it's easy to nudge it and trigger a quick rescan. This should have been one of the buttons you need to hold down for a while and then offer a choice of quick or full.

  Try a different branch.
  They're not worth more than £22.50 though. Even the FM mode is vastly inferior to a pocket FM radio around the same price. I don't understand why the stereo field is so poor. Poor enough to barely be noticeably different from mono. DAB sounds all-mono to me.

  No, I bought mine in branch for £22.50. Perhaps they just haven't put the sticker on the shelf in your branch? Take one to the till or help desk and get them to check the price. For me it was £22.50, down from £30.

  Tesco has its equivalent at £18 when I last looked, but I am put off by the 3 x AAA spec, rather it be 2 so I can logically charge them and have a spare pair handy.

  I did end up getting one of the last Asda ones - priced £30- scanned £22.50 thanks for that.
  Velcro'd to the sunglasses holder so wire drops beside the driver and into AUX socket. Perfect DAB reception on whole commute, saved an expensive DAB retrofit!
  With this I learned that Planet Rock is in MONO! So not worth the bandwidth it is occupying.
  Meanwhile Tesco appear to have similar ones on offer online (check the Ebay outlet) and their stores are having a cut price DAB clearout.

  Argos have a Bush recharagble pocket DAB on offer £29.99. Feels pretty cheap but does the job and you won't spend a fortune on batteries

  Getting around 7 hrs from a pair of Alkalines on my Asda one, now ordered some AAA low discharge NiMh ones for it. The Bush you mention can be charged thru a standard USB I see - means it could easily be charged in-car too. Good spot.
